Reason as to Why Weed Should Be Legal in PA

The issue of legalization of marijuana has been an issue all over the country for some time now. Medical marijuana has been legalized in 23 states as of 2014 according to medicalmarijuana.procon.org. Different fees have been set in each state for medical marijuana ranging from $0 all the way up to $200 in New Jersey. However, medicinal marijuana use is far different from recreational use in the eyes of the U.S. government. The recreational use of marijuana has been legalized in only 2 states, those 2 states being Washington and Colorado. The following map of the country shows which states have and have not legalized medicinal and recreational marijuana use.
Recreational use of marijuana should be allowed in PA because there are many positive benefits to using the drug, physically and mentally. According to the "Business Insider" article 23 Health Benefits of Marijuana, marijuana has numerous effects in the brain and body. For example, marijuana can help treat and possibly reverse carcinogenic effects from to acco and actually increase lung capacity and improve lung health. Personally, I know someone very close to me who has suffered from epilepsy and the use of marijuana on a weekly basis can help manage and even PREVENT epileptic seizures. When taken in manageable amounts that don't overdose the brain and body, marijuana can have an amazing and positive effect on a person. Some other effects include, the stopping of cancer cell reproduction, ease pain of multiple sclerosis, slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease and so much more. In this video clip from the Rubin's Report on YouTube, the first 60 seconds sums up a study from Boston University of Medicine saying that marijuana use has no negative effects on the human body when taken in small amounts. http://youtu.be/LbUoUuQXEoQ

In conclusion, I personally think marijuana should be legalized in PA for medicinal and recreational purposes because it's not harming anyone or anything when taken in acceptable amounts. In addition, the positive effects are far greater than the negative effects. The use of marijuana has impacted many US citizens' lives and improved them for the better. Without the legalization of marijuana in PA, people with diseases that come with great pain and suffering will have to continue to suffer when they could be easing the pain with the light use of marijuana.
